El Al and Shabbat

Filed under: Judaism — lonelymanofcake @ 2:18 pm

As you are probably well aware, there was a major controversy late last year–precipitated by a worker strike at Ben Gurion Airport–when El Al ran some flights on Shabbat in order to bring stranded tourists back to Israel. This engendered some amount of criticism in haredi communities, who threatened to boycott the airline.

Anyway, this skit from the popular Israeli show ארץ נהדרת satirizes one hypothetical resolution of the controversy: El Al decides to fly only on Shabbat. Enjoy!
